Default Newbie here with a defender 90 hardtop

Hello to all,
go easy on me I’m new.

Having been a rr sport owner (175k miles in my tdv8) and a sharer with the Mrs of a 4.4 full fat Vogue, I’ve decided to go for the defender 90
i looked at the 400x, lovely car and spec but as I do around 15k a year it was a bit too juicy, that and the price tag.
so I then looked at the d250 and came close to pulling the trigger on a silver first edition that was in stock at a dealership.
BUT I then realised if I get a defender 90 hardtop and add a jump seat I could get full tax benefit and still manage my daily activities in it as I still have use of the vogue for family use.

so I bought an eiger grey, d200 with white roof, black tails, tie bar and a couple of other bits.

im well pleased with it and tbh even though I’m used to my old tdv8 beast, it still packs plenty of power. I’m surprised that 6 cylinder at 3.0 litres only has 200 Bhp but the torque is plentiful and it rises really well on the fat tyres and steel wheels. Proper retro looking and comfy.

i will be adding one mod. A pair of sidesteps, because I’m only 5,6” with short legs it’s a struggle to get in without looking a bit of a plonker 😂

I did notice one strange thing, the side panels are literally just covering the original glass of the windows and I’m tempted to see if I removed the fixings, would I be able to have the glass instead of the panels.
YES I know I shouldn’t tinker but I’d rather like the glass panels instead of the painted metal.
it seems that LR have just taken the car version, removed 2 windows and left in the door cards, rear speakers etc.

Sorry for the long post and hello again.

Here it is 😀

Very nice! I like the hardtop as it has a lot of personality. Take a shot of the rear cargo area please. I would actually consider getting the hardtop if it’s available in the US. Enjoy!

Yea some photos of the rear cargo! I am hoping to source the parts as this isn't available in the US. I agree would love to add the cargo floor to my First Edition to get the full feel with the rear side windows and all the capacity. Super jealous!

Hi mate,

Did you manage to swap out the rear metal panels with glass? I have a similar idea and the tax savings here is absolutely massive. If you managed to find the parts would be great.

Cheers mate

Hello, I have bought a D90 hardtop too and I have noticed the dame plastic cover outside the rear windows. I wonder if you were able to remove them?
