Oh yea, because that's exactly what I want to do. Receive an inferior product without any compensation, and then spend more money and run the risk of having issues due to janky ebay parts. Real alpha bro.

Whether someone wants or has the skills to work on their Defender, the fact remains that it is a PITA. However, it can be done. Not throwing kerosene on anyone's opinion (and respect all view points), but there is a VERY brisk market for after market Defender products. A "totalled" Defender have been selling for $35k to $60k depending on how it was slayed. Here's one selling now (current bid $52k w/ <24 hours to go). I could easily see myself buying the windscreen off of this. Heck: wheels, headlights, seats, I could go on. I would rather go used than deal with the supply problems. There are innumerable parts on these things that have potential. I'm sure there are some "janky" ones out there too, but I would trust a used Defender part over some of the far more sketchy 3rd party products that are manufactured without any quality controls. Most of the LR parts sellers (Lucky8, PowerfulUk, etc) all sell some aftermarket imports from China (almost every storage box add on). Used are lower risk than those to me (but I've bought both!).
However, whether you do or not, the point to me is can you or can't you. Just like every other vehicle I've owned: if you want to work on it - go for it. If you don't - works for you & me. I think the part that cooks my bacon is that JLR is INTENTIONALLY trying to @$%@-block you from working on them. For the manufacturer to intentionally do this, it spurs me to way more action than my DNA lets me.

Fellas I already swapped the tft display for the digital one on my buddies defender. It took about 30 minutes and no programming was needed.
But I realize with everyone paying 60k and up most of you expect to get what you want and don’t do things yourself.
btw. I added the etorque vectoring rear differential and all terrain progress control and the advanced off road pack to my 2020 defender after it was delivered. (All with eBay parts)
And I added the factory winch by myself.
I also added the WiFi hotspot and fog lights and advanced controllable dynamics and adaptive cruise control. Yes those require a Bosch mastertech tool and a ccf editor. (All with eBay parts)
I get it, at this price point you should be able to get what you want. I understand.
peace everyone!

thank you. Stop start is easy. There is a black little plug on top of the battery terminal under the front passenger seat. Don’t disconnect the battery but just unplug the little black plug boom no more stop start ever!

Can't you disable this already? I assume you mean the stop function when you are sitting at a red light.

Yes, @ammonation - there's a button on the dash to do that. But you have to do it EACH time you restart the ignition. They want a "permanent" off. Many report problems where the Defender doesn't auto start after auto shutting off. This happened to me once. I had to do a power down/up and then got going. VERY disconcerting when in traffic. A permanent off that is being reported might not be surgically isolated to the auto off/on. It involves pulling a wire from the starter battery. Some fear other issues, those who have say they don't have them.

All other trims it is available for $0 as an "option" but that basically means you won't be getting it.
