Default No Voice on NAV

Well between the crackling sound on A Pillar over 90 km/h now go to use NAV and no voice instructions. No it’s not the volume set low and a reboot did not work. Why do we pay PDI if they don’t even prep the vehicles? Aside from the fact that Land Rover needs to improve in their QA before vehicles leave the plant. Any ideas on SAT NAV?

Hi,

Sounds like a typical electric gremlin that many new cars have. Something like this, could have been on any new car, not just LR.

I seem to always by the first years of new cars, and therefore, typically see odd things that get worked out in an update along the way. On a vehicle like the Defender, I suspect it will have a couple of issues, as nobody or car is ever perfect.

I will talk to a service advisor and see if it is a known issue, but I bet they haven't had many back in for service yet.

Let us know if it is a quick fix.

Thanks,

Rob

Stupid question, did you check settings? Did it just stop working? I have found any sound changes end up being attached to a setting to a set user.

Hi,

I'm not sure if you have tried this or not, but set a destination in the car. When you feel it is suppose to give a voice command for a direction change, turn the volume **** to increase the volume. It might have just been turned down all of the way. I went and double checked on the Defender and that worked to adjust the spoken commands.

Let me know.

Rob

I looked in the manual after I tried the above.

Page 283 in the manual says:

" To adjust the volume of the nav voice guidance, rotate the media system's volume control while spoken guidance given."

Well that's too bad, I thought that might have been overlooked and would fix the issue for you.

Local service has not had anyone bring a car in for that.

That actually scares me Rob. I hope it’s a software fix. Car is going in next week for A Pillar noise fix, NAV voice and accessories installation. Hope for the best.
