Nokian Outpost nAT's
Curious, has anyone had experience with the Nokian Outpost nAT? I know the BFG KO's and Wildpeaks are widely used here, but my dealer is recommending the Nokian. I have had great experiences with Nokian Hak's on all of our cars the past 15+ years.
Driving specifics:
-Looking for to run one AT tire year-round
-Live in the mountains near Aspen
-Drive on average 80 miles per week on the highway
-Lots of sketchy downhill winter driving, quite often at night
-Light off-road use on local trails in summer that are often rocky, but nothing super technical (no Moab, etc.)
-Currently have the stock Wrangler's 255/55/20.
-Would be a move to wider 275/60's
Thanks for any comments!

If you go to 275/60/20 you will need to add lift rods or have a GAP tool to enable more height on the air suspension if you have it. The maximum tire diameter you can fit is 32.6." I would go with the 275/55R20 size, which is an OEM tire size, or you can go a little bigger to 265/60R20. Both of those sizes will fit.
While I don't have any personal experience with the nAT, a good friend of mine ran the older Rotiva AT on his LR4 and absolutely loved them. He regularly goes off-road and never had any issues. He also said they were excellent in the winter, even when they were pretty worn. Not surprising being a Nokian tire, as they're known for their winter performance.

I have the older Nokian Outpost AT on my Defender 2023.5 P300. I put them on at 1700 miles and the truck currently has 53,000 plus miles. I use the Defender as my main vehicle and it spends time in Northern Michigan, Chicago and Northern VA. Plenty of time in Northern MI and Chicago in the winter. They have been great as a three snowflake All Weather tire. Well mannered on the highway and great in snow. I have the stock size in an 18 inch wheel. They weigh significantly less than the BF Goodrich KO2s which I have had on my Suburban and Jeep. The KO2 is a great tire, but significantly heavier than the Nokian Outpost AT which weighs in at 37 or 38 lbs per tire if I recall correctly. When I replace these I will put on the Nokian nAT!
The downside of the BFGs is that they are heavy, but the reason they are heavy is because they are probably the most durable AT tire in the market. They are one of only a few with a 3 ply sidewall and will probably be the least likely to get a puncture of any of the AT tires. Everything is a trade-off.
The dealership loves the BFG's, but have long championed Nokian and the Nokian AT was new to me. Funny though this is my first LR AT tires. Stock Conti's on past LR4's saw more serious off roading than the Defender will. My nerves are not what they use to be on two wheels.

We shall see if there was any trade-off at all.

The Nokian approach is an Aramid sidewall for the same idea but a lot less weight. I've had three sets of the bfg ko in the 1, 2 and 3. I just went with the Outpost though for this new set on the Defender. I expect them to be both better in snow and rain but also more efficient and quieter.
We shall see if there was any trade-off at all.

They can't have the same amount of rubber and thickness while being half the weight.
