Default OCTA press launch

The embargo for the OCTA press launch was lifted last night. The reviews are unanimously positive!

Counting down until Throttle House's James jumps it off a sand dune.

THIS is now my dream Defender. I have to admit, they finally have a proper Lander Rover color in that Faroe Green. Apologies to all my Pangea friends for my poor style choices!

I guess the Air Down/Leave the tires alone debate is going to continue to rage. This was the normal Defender press trip to South Africa with a new Defender release. Off camera are all the JLR engineers & marketeers. So, what's on display is well informed.

In the TopGear video, they are running the 20" "Pro" tires. The Goodyear Duratrac RTs. At ~12:05 "... we have aired them down..." and the video appears to be at 15psi.
In another Cars video at ~8:15 (same tires) "...just drop the pressures down to about 20psi". Very interesting in the ongoing approaches.

Agreed, Faroe Green is a fantastic color, but I still love my Pangea. I have to say Faroe Green, Aintree Green, Pangea Green, Belgravia Green and Scotia Grey are my top favorite LR colors.

The Faroe Green looked even better when I saw it in person at Goodwood. Shame that it is an OCTA-exclusive color, and I bet it looks even better without the matte film (I personally prefer a gloss finish). JLR usually says not to adjust the tire pressures when you have low profile tires as most of their vehicles do because you increase the risk of ripping the tire off the bead on underinflated low profile tires. Maybe they decided to air down on the dunes because the OCTA on 20" wheels has more sidewall. As you said, the debate continues....

I’ve been doing some research in the parts catalog. A couple of quick observations:

1) width is driven by a combination of suspension arms and the profile of the uprights that hold the bearings etc. drive shafts are different. I haven’t added it up but my guess is $5-7k in parts to get the stance right

2) shocks are obnoxiously expensive, like $4k per corner.

3) fenders don’t appear to be unique to the Octa which probably means you can fit the car extensions. It’s unclear whether the stock bumper will mate up.

I’m sure hunters prestige will do a lot of research to figure out retrofits.

I just had to look up Hunters Prestige. Wow I wish I was across the pond! I would definitely hire them for a ClearSight retrofit. No more ebay parts alerts for me...
