Default OEE windows vs OEM

Hi all. I bought my 2022 defender about 2 months ago, preowned. It’s been delightful. Just drove it from Fort Lauderdale to the arctic circle. On my way home, I decided to take a stop in Portland, get a hotel for the night for the GF and I. What a mistake. Woke up to find passenger side windows front and read smashed in. Driver side rear window smashed. Rear window smashed. Fridge and yeti 700 gone. So here I am. Apparently OEM windows are on back order, so I’m going with OEE to get us home. Any experience with OEE vs OEM? Should I schedule a refit of OEM when I get her home? I figured if I notice a difference, I certainly will, but thought I’d ask the group first. Windshield was untouched.

Man I eel for you. This world had gone to hell and all the tax paying, law abiding citizens are punished while hoodlums run a muck.

The aftermarket windows should be fine. I would not replace them just to get back to OEM.

Sorry to hear about your incident. The aftermarket windows should be OK.

Sorry to hear about this. While I always prefer to use OEM parts, the aftermarket windows shouldn't be a problem, especially since they are on backorder for who knows how long. I guess the moral of the story is to never stop in Portland. It's a shame that a beautiful city has turned into a ****hole.

Thanks for all the input. I went with OEE, seem alright quality. I drove the car home. On the way home, I noticed a thump sound as one of the windows are rolling up. Took it to the same company different location and they diagnosed that the window that was installed, was slightly off track. So they fixed that. Jumped in it, it’s the passenger side so I ran it up and down, no thump anymore, took it home. Drove the girlfriend and I out to get take out, she couldn’t open the door any longer from the inside, on the door that had the window fixed that same day. It does unlock when she pulls on the handle, but it won’t open. Is this a computer thing? Battery reset? Or this a mechanical issue. Thanks for all your help in advance.

It could be that the cable connected to the door handle has popped off. If that's the case, it is an easy fix. Just pop off the door panel with a Torx bit, unclip the door panel and see if the cable connected to the handle is attached. Mind that the cable is greased, so you might get some grease on you.
