Ya want a new hinge? Let me know! Cause I'm gonna make one. (I just need a sample.)
sarcasm is always lost ! machining is the way to go.

you just need a blue print, of course having the part is ideal, but the shop will need to make drawings, they may charge for it. if you need one send me the measurements and i can make a cut file for you in the spirit of defeating adversity!

Update: The machine guy I was talking with can't give this the attention it needs for at least a few months. He's terrific, but is working on a few projects. I'd hoped he could squeeze this in, but he cannot.

Does anyone here know/trust a machine shop that can do the work? (I asked somebody and am awaiting an answer. Won't say who. Just mentioning it in case they read this update...)

Also, I have a set of hinges in-hand from a fellow forum member who was kind enough to disassemble his ladder and be without. for the cause! Fist pump!

@outcast I have hinges to send you, but first...
1) can you return them by April 30? They need to go back on a ladder, so must be returned in the same condition received.
2) do you intend to machine the new part or cast it, and why?
3) what kind of metal, and why?
4) How much will a set of hinges cost?

before I send the hinge, thus comitting to this process, I'd like to know more.

I ended up removing the ladder alltogether in the end, after replacing it twice and almost breaking my back twice. And no, I am not an oversized version but an average dude (150lb/80kg). Also the noise it makes on high speeds, and how it gets stuck. Overall crap design. If anyone has good back ladder recommendations would be great to hear.
