No excess strain really. The dealer explained that since it is a more snug fit, it pulls a bit more when flexing, what ends up causing the sound. Yes, the KO2s are heavy, but I am sure LR designed the carrier with "spare" load capacity. Pun intended... And it definitely pays off when traversing sharp rocks terrain.
