Off-road settings

Off-road settings
Documentation states there are two fff-road height settings: off-road 1 and off-road 2. The most appropriate setting is automatically selected based on a number of factors. I've never seen the 1st, lower setting selected regardless of what driving mode I'm in. Frankly, I don't really care to be at a lower road height but I was curious if anyone has actually seen both settings.
Second question - when in "extended mode", the documentation states that you can raise your truck if required. How much clearance can you actually get if you find yourself high-centered or in deep water?

A valid complaint with the LR4 (D4) was that it was speed limited when in off-road mode (-- at around 25 / 30 mph the vehicle dropped back into normal mode) -- which is problematic on a flat, muddy road where one is trying to drive a hundred miles in the outback. This was corrected, I recall, by adding an auto controlled, off-road mode between normal and the regular off-road height for higher speeds in the Defender.

See this video to answer your extended mode question:
Also, read this thread -- the extended mode also engages when you attempt to lift the vehicle to change a tire -- which is honestly a real pain:

The extended off road height is 1.5-2” higher than ‘regular’ offroad height. This is the height that 2” lift rods plus offroad setting will put it at.
the Defender can go around 50ish mph before it lowers itself from offroad height (not scientific but i def hit pavement once and forgot to lower it, it was at 45-50mph it lowered itself)

The extended height doesn't stick around long. I high centered myself in a snow drift one day and when I had gotten myself unstuck the car was raised up to the extended mode. It drops down quickly. At least it did for me.

50mph for the regular off-road height is the max. This is correct.
