My dealer has no problem selling me an OEM rack on my V8 Defender. I will likely install an aftermarket one at some point.

just a reminder you do get lower top speed of 120 mph with 20 rims instead of 150 mph with 22 rims.

I am well aware. I am not intending to get near 120mph so not a problem.

all defenders have the same chassis. nothing will prevent you from installing rails beside a dumb dealer.

my dealer had no problem selling them to me. installed myself.

it’s your car and do what you want. i made the decision that the rails would not have any negative affect that would keep me up at night

Me: If I install roof racks on my V8 will it void my warranty?
Dealer: "If something happens to the rails, your roof, roof glass, windshield, or anything else structural JLR would not honor the warranty"

I confirmed this with a second dealer. So, yeah, nobody can stop you from doing anything, but it also doesn't mean they will warranty it if something happens.

I went with the V6. It is awesome.

Regardless of what a dealer tells you, in the states they cannot deny warranty unless they can prove that your mod (the roof rack) caused the issue. I had a manufacturer threaten to void the warranty on some very expensive devices if I used a power supply that wasn’t theirs. Mere mention of “Magnuson Moss” had them “clarify” their position in writing.

Interesting. They actually open up the top speed limiter when adding 22" rims & tyres?
