Default One year of ownership and mods

After One year of ownership with 13,000 miles in different terrains, im still surprised with the defender's capabilities even without having the rear diff or terrain response 2.
Never had a fault, never broke down on me, everything just worked, but there are 2 disappointments.

Rattles are increasing daily, doors, seats, down, up, pillers and every where.

Modding the defender is just difficult and expensive, the aftermarket parts and accessories are just unjustifiably crazy expensive, I know with time when the hype dies down the prices will go down but im jealous at how the market adopted quickly to the ford bronco, with accessories being sold even when the car wasn't released.

My defender is a P400 SE eiger grey and below are my current mods.
  1. Evo Corse 18 inch (without brake conversion)
  2. BFG KO2 285/60/18
  3. lazer lamps grille kit
  4. headlight guards
  5. Extended wheel arch
  6. Interior lights
  7. rubber floor mats
and many small changes in the interior.

previous mods:
  1. redbourne alston 20 inch wheels
  2. bfgoodrich ko2 275/55/20
  3. Cooper at3 275/65/18
  4. side box
  5. side ladder
  6. oem roof rack
  7. oem spare tire cover
Feel free to ask me anything.

I think its pretty good everything is so pricey - keeps all the plebs away. This is not a bronco, its not a jeep…completely different league from all angles. I’m happy to almost never come across another defender whilst I’m driving back and forth to wholefoods.

Well, I have to say that a second set or new set of wheels has not been on my radar, so forgive me if this is answered elsewhere. But might I get some details about these wheels and what it took to mount?!? Straight bolt on without modification? Good sources?

Looks fantastic, @aao4473 !! Thanks for sharing. Posts & pics like that are why I'm on this forum!

Random comments & questions.
- Kudos to you for going back clean and removing the rack, lunchbox & ladder. Looks sharp! (Not that I dislike the other way, just that it looks "fresh").
- Are those the matt black or gloss black Evo Corse? Also, those the DakarZero? I see your other thread answered this.
- Speaking of the other thread, which spacers did your eventually install? The other thread said you were working that out.
- Love the lazer lights. How much of a PITA (Pain in the A...) was it to mount or did you hire it out?
- How beefy are those light guards? I have the Lucky8 version & prefer the style, but I'm skeptical about how substantial they will actually be when needed. Doubt mine will take a bird at 70mph.

Short version, he grinded off some material of the factory brakes. Full thread here:https://landroverforums.com/forum/20...r-zero-109068/

Ahhh, yes, I've seen the ground calipers. I don't "need" 18" wheels enough to want to take my grinder to my wife's calipers. I realize there's no actual danger, except to myself, when I'm sleeping, and the wife, offended by my actions smothers me with her pillow.

Thanks for saving my life!

Yeah so about the spacers, no spacers needed.
as for the lazer lights, the kit comes with everything for installation, it took me 30 mins to install thankfully the defender has a positive and negative needles on the left side to install anything that needs power and a tunnel to pass through the wire inside also I opted for a switch instead of hooking them up with the high beam.

I bought the elite version which has spread more the regulars

those light guards use 3m stickers, just rub the headlight black border with an alcohol wipe and install them, they sit really well on the headlights, I saw the lucky8 ones, installing them is bit of hassle as you have to insure its not in the way of the light beam

Can you provide some more details on your light install? Interested in how you ran the switch vs wiring into the high-beams.
