Correct. Navigation in the driver's display (instrument cluster screen) only provides guidance if you are using the PiviPro navigation. CarPlay guidance will not appear there .

I use Android, but I believe the issue is shared with CarPlay users: only native driving directions and maps from Pivi Pro's built-in satnav program are displayed in the instrument cluster (and HUD, if you have that option.) CarPlay and Android Auto maps - whether you use Google, Apple maps or Waze - will only be displayed in the center touchscreen, before and after the 3.0 update. Hopefully something JLR can address in a future software release.

On various other forums there seem to be a number of people complaining that after updating to 3.0 their vehicles have updated again to 2.1.7. Some claim to have lost wireless CarPlay, while others say it is still working. Anyone here seen anything like that?

Yes,
I have the exact same situation.I had 3.0.0 with wireless Android auto and the car presented the option to upgrade to 2.1.7,which I did
Luckily now I had retained the option with working wireless Android auto even with 2.1.7 now.
My dealer didn't know why SOTA wanted to donwgrade after I was on 3.0.0 .. They said something about 3.0.0 introduced some bugs with rear camera or something, but this is no reason to lanch a lower number version to repair bugs
Anybody knows what is happening?

Apparently no way to force it. I’m still stuck on 2.1.6 and waiting. Dealer said they couldn’t push it either.

Where can I check the software version so I know when I get 3.0?

On PiviPro, in the right hand lower corner is a little gear icon: Settings. Press that. Or if it's like mine, press it about 8 times until it recognizes your finger. Then at the bottom, you will see four options. I forget what they all are right now, but the far right one says "All". Press that. Or 7 times until it recognizes your finger. Scroll to the bottom and click Software or Software updates. That will show you the version if I recall the steps correctly. If not Google PowerfulUk's video on all the PiviPro settings and in the comments will be a link to a Google Drive XLS doc that shows ALL the trees and options on Pivi. I'm hoping one of these will get you there.

Ok, my PiviPro was last updated 10/30/2021 and I'm 2.6.1. I've finally gotten tired enough waiting to do something. Strangely, I'm surprised that I had the patience to wait this long! The AT&T coverage where I live is terrible (I use a different cell provider for my phone) and I finally paid attention to it where I park the Defender. Zero bars! So, I just connected it to my home wifi and crossing my fingers. Anyone want to start a pool re: how long it takes now? It will probably happen tonight, on its original planned schedule, and I'll think I'm a genius...
