I just heard that there is a massive software update being done now at dealers on all JLR’s. It’s not OTA, only the dealer can do it. 🤔

 

That may be a security update. So many Range Rovers are being stolen in the U.K. that in some areas they are uninsurable.

Land Rover has been forced to act to improve security.

 

Maybe in UK, I was at complimentary pre winter check at Canadian dealer and were no recalls yet on defender. They did try to reflash the dashboard controller to stop dimming but it looks like global software issue.

My dealer is in Florida and he said they have been doing this huge sw update for a few weeks now

 

That button is currently a shortcut button that can be customized to launch certain functions. I wonder if you can program it for the same one as the video shows.

 

The programmable "shortcut" button is still there, and curiously my D90S MY23.5 has the extra button - which functions, but has no label like shown in the MY24 examples.

Pushing the button does nothing, but I am still on Pivi 4.0

 

My '22 has the assistance button as well, it just isn't backlit for functional. If you shine a light into that quadrant of the button panel, you can see it's there.

I would assume it could be activated in the future (likely through the GAP tool for older model years once the Pivi updates are pushed for this software version) as the cameras and sensors the system is based on are there.
