Default P300 Real World MPG's

So I've been getting pretty crappy MPG figures out of my P300 (2022 110 S). I had been giving it the benefit of the doubt during break in, but I have well over 2000km's on it now and the fuel economy is nowhere near what it's rated at. I've been averaging around 13-14mpg based on the trip computer.

I just did a short trip on the highway, zero'd the trip just before getting on the freeway. 1.5 hours sitting at around 65 mph trying to be as efficient as possible, and the average over that was 16.8. It was all level grade, it was pretty windy and around 10 degrees C. Only changes I've made to her that would impact fuel economy would be the 275/55 R20 cooper AT3 4S tires, and maybe the factory side steps and mud flaps. The fuel economy wasn't much better on the factory pirelli's, which I changed out at around 1000km. Given all that it still seems pretty low considering its rated at 17/20mpg city/highway. Just wondering if others are seeing the same thing, or is this potentially an issue with my defender?

I'm getting 17.6-18 mpg in mixed driving... it's better in the summer and worse with the winter. I've had highway trips in the summer at 21 mpg. You're still in the break-in period -- I did notice figures as low as yours when I took delivery of mine, though I cannot remember how quickly it improved. FWIW -- this is the first vehicle I can remember that actually does seem to drive better after a break-in -- can't explain fully but it seems more responsive to throttle. Could just be driver habituation -- don't know. Didn't notice anything like this before, even on a hand-built AMG engine.

I’ve got around 7k miles on mine and average somewhere around 19-20mpg based on the trip computer. I’ve done a few longer road trips, but also live in a hilly area with a decent amount of city driving. I don’t particularly remember much change through the break in period.

I have Nitto AT tires, but otherwise everything totally stock from a base model P300 110.

I have 13K miles on mine and I think it is very sensitive to how hard the accelerator is pressed. I remain in the 19-20 MPG range -- and remain light on the throttle -- and am pretty pokey, never more than 70 mph, even on the interstate. Not in any rush to get anywhere during the pandemic, I suppose.

Enjoy!

Are you driving in eco mode? It adjusts how sensitive the accelerator is which should probably help some. On the p400 is a substantial difference.

thanks for the responses! definitely seems like mine is pretty low, still not sure if it's related to the break in period or not really. guess I'll give it some more time before taking it in.

as for Eco mode, I didn't realize that was a thing, I'll have to go and check. hard to imagine eco mode having that big of an impact on the highway, but you never know! cheers.

Wow that seems very low. I averaged 21 mpg my first 3000 miles and since installing the FR rack I've seen that plummet to 20.

D90 P300 with the OEM off-road tires and the Expedition roof rack. 9,000 miles, 5,800 of which were on the maiden trip UT to FL (so combination of highway and off-road) and the rest in daily driving duties. About 18 MPG.
