Default P400e Self Charging

Hey Everyone,

I recently bought a Defender 110 P400e and something I've noticed is that when the battery is full and using "save" mode, it will return around 30mpg.

But when the battery is depleted, it will actively attempt to charge the battery using the petrol engine, dropping the economy to 20mpg.

In practice, I drove around 220 miles on the motorway. The electric battery was depleted at the start of the journey and for the entire trip, the car returned 20mpg at 70mph - and charged the electric battery to approximately 70%.

On the return journey, the electric battery was fully charged and the car returned 30mpg, in "save" mode - getting me home with 100% battery.

My issue is that charging the battery using the petrol engine is a massive waste of fuel, but I can't see how to disable this behaviour, short of keeping the electric battery full and not using it (which defeats the purpose).

Does anyone know if it is possible to disable charging the battery when using the petrol engine?

I'm getting 17-20mpg with no dead battery weight on my regular p400. If you're getting 20mpg AND recharging your battery I'd assume its all coming from your breaks. I've never owned an electric/phev but 20mpg and getting a charge sounds great.
