Parking Garage | Height Issues?
#11
With air you will also have the flexibility to reprogram your standard height. If you get the Gap IID tool you could lower your standard height which then offsets all other heights by the same amount. Just use the tool in 'Height Control' mode first to view the difference in values between standard, access and bump-stop. Then use the 'Height Adjust' mode to offset a safe negative value such that you don't hit the bump-stops in access mode, as this might trigger extended-mode - which you definitely don't want to do in your garage!

Hi All,
I just learned that my dealer will be able to submit my order next week. I am totally undecided on my spec in terms of aesthetics, but that's another story. My question today is around air suspension and whether it is essential for access to garages. I'll be straightforward and say that I do not want air suspension; my preference is coils. That said, I wonder how inconvenient that would make the car with regard to usability - train station, city garages, mall, etc.
My wife's '16 LR4 seems to be pretty similar in height, and I do lower it into access mode in many garages, mostly because I'm not actually certain how much clearance there typically is (even despite the height restriction signs at the entrance of most garages... not sure how accurate that really is with ramp angles and surface joists, and I do think it's pretty tight in many instances). My W463 G500 would routinely hit the roof, and it was as unpleasant as it sounds.
So, anybody with coils on a 110 who has had issues with clearance? Or for that matter, issues with air when not at access height?
Thanks,
Joe

ETA:Just noticed OP was from 2021. Hopefully they've figured it out by now. 🙂

Like one of the 2021 posters, I fly out of PHL. My 110 has coils, so I can't adjust the height.
I always hit the horizontal piece of PVC pipe at the entrance to the spiral ramp to go up levels in the garage. I have never felt comfortable entering any of the covered parking decks - those roofs look lower than the roof on the spiral. So I just keep going all the way up to the top level, where I can park uncovered.
The exit from the garage complex does take me through some covered levels on the way to the pay stations and I go slowly to ensure I don't inadvertently bounce up a centimeter and take out my fin antenna. So far, so good. But I've never been willing to try parking on a covered level.
Yours,
Mike
