Plug in your vin…smart phone on wheels NO ONSTAR!!!
I'm confused. Is Land Rover sending the info to these third party services like On Star does? I'm not sure what "Silent" means. Also, what if you have Journeys turned off, are they still collecting info on driving habits and all that?
I am curious as well about what is disclosed if Journeys is set to "off." Any lawyer/owners want to read the legalese for us?
Is there a way to opt out of the LexisNexis disclosures?
Can’t stop laughing when the ‘chicken littles’ worry about their privacy, all the while posting their entire lifestyles on Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, etc. Too late, social media users. Your life is already online for the world to see. (Never have been on any social media platforms, never will. My time is too valuable, and that time spent on there can never be reclaimed)
Do you understand that this thread is about manufacturers selling details about your personal driving behaviors to third parties who sell that specific data to insurers?
JLR does not tell us whether they are selling that data to third parties. They are certainly collecting it.
There is nothing here about social media.

Just got my first LR this weekend and immediately stopped setup of the app. The salesperson looked at me like an alien and proceeded to tell about all the features I'd be missing lol. Later at home I spent more time than I cared to reading through all the privacy information for the app and didn't feel comfortable so the app is out. I also followed up with some direct queries to JLR about the app and the Pivi software specifically asking which 3rd parties, what data, etc. I'll post any results I get from those. I was hoping as a European based company, there would be a heightened awareness of personal data privacy but the app policies didn't reflect that at all. The nav system looks to be done by a company called HERE Technologies headquartered in Amsterdam. Their privacy policy looked pretty good from my reading so I have a lot less concern about my location data. AT&T is the 4G provider and their privacy policies are ****e. I'm also considering how to possibly turn that off. I can connect the vehicle to my WiFi for software updates if needed. I share the concern with the telematics data being shared with 3rd parties. JLR having it makes sense from a service perspective.
My job leaves me with a full understanding of how all these consumer spying technologies work and how that data is used and misused. That knowledge compels me to head off what I can when I can. I do not use social media and I have a firewall set up on my home network with blocks set up to severely limit tracking and spying. I take precautions with location and tracking data on my phone as well. Nothing is perfect but where I can do something, I try.
