20% over Jeep aftermarket products? I wish! I got a rude awakening when I made the transition. My Jeep’s entire front bumper with built in winch plate was $469. A simple hidden winch plate from Lucky 8 is what, a grand? I think that’s what I paid. My Jeep’s Ace Engineering rock sliders, the best ones on the market at the time, were $450, and that was WAAY more than the competitors. To be fair, this was 5-7 years ago and everything has gone up. Those sliders are $790 now. But still, I believe the Defender sliders are $2100. Steel wheels for the Jeep: $99. I paid $350 for OEM steelies for the Defender.
Part of the pricing delta is the LR upcharge (more expensive truck so we can charge more to people who bought it.) Part of the delta is severely limited quantity (Wranglers were selling over 200,000 a year during the whole time I had mine, and that was a model that was largely unchanged from 2007 to 2018, so lots of potential buyers for aftermarket stuff.) And part of the delta is the fact that nearly everything you want to hang off of a new Defender is much more complicated than hanging the same item off a JK Wrangler, mostly because the better aero of the body shell makes access so much harder.
But still… It’s crazy expensive how much a steel plate to screw a winch to costs, or how much a set of tubular steel rock sliders with a few (not particularly well-executed) welds costs in LR World.

I agree NoGaBiker!
I have a 2018.5 JL Rubicon slightly modified (nothing like yours in your picture), but the parts for the Jeep in general are "reasonably" priced, but as you've stated there's a massive amount of Jeeps on the road, so potential sales figures should be more. I think you hit the nail on the head about the delta of cost. The more expensive the vehicle appears to be one of the justifications to charge more for add-on parts.
I'm still waiting patiently until my Defender 110 X gets built and delivered this December and have been lurking in this forum and glad to see so much useful information and a great active community!
The accessory prices on Defender stuff has also both amused and shocked me, even after owning tons of accessorized Rovers in the past. I mean... 4-6K w/ shipping for that awesome kangaroo Aussie genuine guard! huzzah! 2K for the expedition roof rack! worth every penny! I'd be in 8K for a dealer installed winch! 1200 + for the super cool Lucky8 ladder!
I'm still buying it all hahaha but the prices of good quality aftermarket (or genuine) accessories are... expensive.
yeah i should have really researched the prices of the accesories I wanted BEFORE buying it, good grief the vehicle was expensive enough as it was but a bunch of metal organized in a nice fashion for the roof rack and $2400 (free shipping at least) ow. The $1k integrated AC, the $2100 rocksliders from lucky 8, gonna take me a while to save all that up. don't get me started about off road friendly travel trailers.

where do you live? i have been around carbon fiber for a long time. the clear coat is is fading and normally from sitting in the sun for too long. but from the looks of the multiple areas it appears something else is going on.
most carbon fiber pieces are made overseas and they have been doing it for a long time. they know what they are doing.
