Default PPF / Removing DEFENDER hood letters

After a few offroad trips, I was super bummed about the amount of, ahem, trail rash and pin stripes on the sides and front of my Defender. So after a day with the polisher that I would like back, I bit the bullet and did a full self healing PPF on my 110 from same guys that did my Porsche awhile back. Took 1.5 weeks, got it back yesterday and the PPF (and paint correction they did underneath) looks awesome.

The shop wanted the hood film to cure for 1-2 weeks, before putting on D E F E N D E R logo again to make sure there were no issues with the installation or film bubbling etc. They ordered a new logo from the dealer, then they actually put the letters on OVER the PPF. Which I guess makes sense.

At first I thought the 110 looked dumb without the letters... after seeing it for a day or two now, I kind of like the look. Very butch but I will be having them put the letters back on in 2 weeks.

Anyways had not seen a hood without the letters before so here are pics.

I'm literally in this same situation now... Letters removed so PPF could be applied... New letters are on order. They need to be applied to the PPF, then they ceramic over the PPF... So I'm in limbo without a logo for the next 7 days while we wait for the letters. I like it better with the letters for sure on my car...

PPFd my front end as well along with ceramic. Left the letters off for a full year because I never got around to going back. Much prefer them on, now that I finally did it.

I’ve left the letters off not for looks, but for ease of cleaning.
Matt PPF over Eiger Grey (ignore the dark smudges- just low lighting).

I have unsophisticated / unevolved automobile style tastes, so take it with an entire bottle of salt; but I think the gloss black hood without the letters looks stunning. Not sure about the other photos.

Thanks for sharing in any case. Loads of fun to see !!

Enjoy !

D90V8 without the lettering and also removed the V8 from rockers.

my wife’s 110X with the gloss black hood and extended black package we intend to leave off as well. We like the clean look on the black finishes. If we had the silver or grey may be a different decision.

Heck, do what other folks have done. Rearrange the letters to whatever you want. I think "Urban" advertises their modded vehicles that way.

just picked up my 110 after ppf, ceramic, and window tint — and am now "letterless" for a while on my santorini black with extended black pack. kinda liking the naked look on the all black truck. might live without the D E F E N D E R for a while and see if i miss it.
