Default Problems using the HERE MapDownloader

I've tried a couple of times to use their App to get the new maps, but the 17GB download onto my thumb drive takes so long that after maybe 5 hours of dowloading it abruptly stops and says "Download stopped because it's taking too long." Anyone got a work-around, other than get the dealership to do it?

I'd try downloading to your hard drive initially, then move it to the thumb drive. Thumb drive writes can be slow and may be messing with the app download causing it time out.

Thanks, I'll try that.

I've never had that issue when downloading updates to my flash drive. They always take around an hour and a half to download for me. Maybe try going somewhere that has faster internet? Dealer would download it the same way as you are, so there isn't much of a point unless they already have them pre-loaded on flash drives.

My last download a few months back took overnight on my blazing fast MacBook Pro. There is definitely some issue with that website... I think it took 10-12 hours!

(Hard drive or thumb drive -- either way, I tried both)

Annoyingly, the way the HERE downloader for Mac is configured, it is rather difficult to get it to put the files on your SDD/HDD btw...

I only have one option with the Map downloader and that's to use a thumbdrive bigger than 17GB.

I wouldn't fully say no, but very unlikely, as the download is through HERE Technologies, not JLR. Nearly all automakers use HERE Technologies for their native navigation systems, and the majority of the company is owned by VAG, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz.

Well, it's done. But such a lot of hard work; from LR's maze of a website, to shockingly slow download speed. Took me back to the 90s and the floppy disc era.

I also liked the fact the map download was branded Jaguar - even after the application requested my VIN, so it knows to the last bolt what my vehicle is. But I'll cut them some slack due to the ongoing cyberattack.

Hardest thing for me was finding a USB key - I haven't used one for many many years. I finally found the one I bought to update the maps the last time I did it.

Hopefully my niece can fix some of these issues when she starts working at JLR.
