The two pictures shown (one with a bolt and the grooved flat pad) by A FACELESS MAN are the correct fore and aft lift points.

Interesting lift. I think I saw their promo photo in a safety video one time. Stacked 4x?!

I think that you are incorrect. Having looked further in the service manual, past the section quoted above about 4 post lifts and rails, there is the following, which unless I'm completely misunderstanding, shows how to lift the entire vehicle by the standard jacking points (not the inner points), wheels free, using a 2-post lift. That's effectively identical to the method I posted above.

Yes, those four wheel changing jacking points are also supported for lifting the vehicle within the manual.

Basically, there are eight approved points to place point loads on the vehicle. Vertical lift loads are not "allowed" elsewhere than those eight points.

I was forced to look into the heavier duty points because my rock crawlers cover the four wheel changing jacking points and I wanted to confirm a suitable alternative.

So those are the ones that I'm using with the Quickjack system, so that should be fine. What's still not clear to me at all is the caveat about not using a 4-post lift with longitudinal rails. It's stated as a safety concern, rather than a structural damage concern, but with no elaboration. But I don't know exactly what configuration they are talking about - obviously not a 4-post lift using the sill jacking points.

Would you mind to share which model of Quickjack you use? Apart from the max load, they fall in either 60" or 66" between supporting points. Do you have to use the longer one on your Defender? Thanks for your help in advance.
