I have a P300 2022 Defender 110 and absolutely LOVE it. Ran into some trouble (very literally) recently when leaving my office's parking garage - I was not paying close attention and backed up into one of those yellow stick things that these places usually have, and have a dent on the rear passenger's side above the wheel well (on the curved piece above the arch protector). I was wondering if anyone here has experience with body damage/knows how one can get behind this dent - it's relatively small so I might be able to do it myself (at least enough to fix the arch protector fit for now) and then get a professional repair later.
Just unclip the arch liner, pop out the plug to the side light in the wheel arch and move the hose to the rear camera washer out of your way. You'll gain full access. If you want you can even remove the rear bumper entirely. Not difficult to do. Not sure how easy /difficult it will be to bend it back into shape but worth a go for sure.
Jeez that’s crazy. I’m in it for the long haul with this thing so I’m basically going for just getting that wheel arch tab to fit in the bumper properly. Don’t really mind the scrapes, as long as there’s no bare metal I’m good. The prices on this are insane. And the thread linked from allegedly above is CRAZY if you haven’t seen it yet, worth a look.
but it looks like I’ll have to remove the bumper to get this thing where I want it to be. Sounds like a project for the weekend.
My repair quote for a new center rear bumper, the 2 outer rear bumpers, some support beam behind the bumper plus painting is $4800. They also included where the lower spare tire support is slightly pushed-in but you can't see it unless you remove the spare tire. I'm going to leave that as-is since I don't want them to fill it then repaint the entire rear door.
There’s a place in my town that does fantastic work but they aren’t really LR specialists (they do everything). Curious what their quote would be for this one. Did you get the bumper repairs done?
