Redbourne Morland 20” with 33” MT 1.5 lift
Hello -
I’m about to pull the trigger on this setup. I’ve been searching posts and I haven’t seen this exact setup but close. I need to get it right since I’ll be ordering online and don’t want to have to try multiple tire sizes.
I’ll be adding the Johnson Rods 1.5” lift.
Wheels Redbourne Morland 20” (20x8.5) 25 Offset and 5.73 back spacing.
Tires Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T 275\60R20 - (looking at the 115T vs the 120Q) current factory tires are 22” Continentals 112W so both are higher load rating. I do tow a 4K boat.
From everything I have read it should work with no rubbing. I also have the smaller mud flaps (not classic). I will be okay with a little rubbing in access mode since I only use it to pull out of the garage. I can’t add more lift since I need it to fit in the garage. AZ is too hot to leave her outside all the time.

You will rub hard with 33x12.5R20! I am running the same size/offset wheel and 275/60R20 Copper AT3 4S which are 33" , section width 10.9" and a tread width of 9.1" and they rub even with lift rods. I had to modify the inner fender up front near the radiators to make clearance. This is a case where I would not take the local tire guys advice on sizing, unless they are willing to take them back off at no cost and sell you a size that fits...

My opinion? If you want the wider, larger tires for aesthetics, go for it. I support just about any amount of difficulty and expense to make a vehicle look like you want it to look.
But if you're doing it because, like me and many on here, you come from a Jeep/Toyota/Etc. background where ever-bigger tires rule the day for actual performance, IMO you're going to unnecessary trouble carving up the inner fender liner to fit larger-than-stock tires on these trucks. An exception might be if you are planning to tackle some pretty gnarly rock, like Grade 6 and up in Moab (Poison Spider Mesa and harder.) It's said by those who have done PSM in a L663 that they wouldn't have made it without 35s. Having done PSM in Jeeps many times, I don't doubt that. Or I should say, "wouldn't have made it without scraping/bending something." I've done it with as small as 34" tires on a 2-door Jeep, but was much more comfortable with 37s.
But if your thing is more like the big passes in the San Juans and many of the less demanding Moab trails (the vast majority in the Wells guidebook, in other words) stock size (but upgraded to an actual AT/RT/MT rated tire with decent sidewall strength) will serve you perfectly well.
These are stock-size Cooper Discover RT 255s that I've been using for six months now, including two weeks in Colorado last month (They are actually exactly 1/2" taller than the OEM goodyears on my OEM 20" wheels, for what that's worth).
But again, if you want the particular look of a wider and/or taller tire, go for it! It's all good.

I a free with NoGaBiker, go wider at your own risk. I can tell you that those 12.5 wide meats will RUB like a sonofabitch. I toyed with the idea of some meaty 33s just because it looks so good but after facing the facts on clearance with this platform, elected to fit Goodyear Duratracs in stock 20" size. Zero regrets. I'm not going to plow into a bunch of rocks in an $80,000 truck anyway.

That is the exact info I was looking for. I didn’t think there was a chance to get the 12.5 in. That was on his recommendation. Good news he was willing to try and not charge me to get the correct size if needed. 275\60R20 was my first choice But with your info it will need some minor cutting to fit. I will probably just go down one size and be safe.
Getting excited seeing all these grate pictures. Hopefully I can get them installed this week.
