Redneck Install of ClearSight Mirror

Done well over the months. Takes time to adjust, but that’s the entire video vs mirror debate and optics that they all have.
The version I used allows you to move the camera angle from the mirror really quickly. Often small cars at red lights can disappear, but with one finger tap I can bring up the camera to scroll the viewing angle up/down. It’s super wide angle at maybe 180 degrees so being off center really doesn’t seem to impact things.
I suppose you could go thru the firewall. That’s a good route. However, I’m trying to minimize the punches thru that route. We installed the Trigger-4 Controller so I could Bluetooth my power switches. The only unavoidable was when installing my GMRS.
Good luck! Post pics when you’re done with yours.

I wanted to attempt to try one of these, but I was looking at my windshield and noticed how much crap there is on the top of the front of it. I thought that if the front camera was mounted ont he mirror itself it'd be obstructed with all that crap on the windshield itself. Is that the case in your experience or does it some how clear it?

I have installed this over my existing "Clear View" and I am impressed. Yes, you need to do a bit of cable management and have they tidy, but it is possible with some zip ties behind the mirror. The front facing camera is ok(ish), but the rear camera is much, much better than the one JLR provided. Wider angle, and it catches dead angles in the back. Also, rear light are also a bit fuzzy but much less than the JLR. I have the feeling that JLR researched a lot for their mirror, where to get the absolute cheapest rear view camera.
Overall I am very pleased with the Amazon mirror, and if I did not have the ClearView, this would be the way to go. Definitely I would not order a "ClearView" on a new LR, when it can be done so much cheaper, and especially better.
However, if you want fancy stuff, and "invisible" installation, then this is not for you.

I've had this one in my cart for months but I've not pulled the trigger yet...
