Default Rejoining the D90 owner's circle

I picked up my pre-owned 2022 D90 S P300 w/ coil suspension on Saturday. I purchased online and had never driven a P300 or coil suspension before. Prior to this I had a 2020 D110 which I felt was just a little too big for my needs and a 2021 D90 which I traded in last August since it had outrageous trade-in value at the time. Both had air suspension and P400 engines. Even though I love my F-Pace and keeping it, I kept missing the Defender.

Lost a lot of sleep the few days before I could fly in to pick up a vehicle I had never seen nor driven in person... let alone "trading down" to the P300 and coils. I'm happy to say that my new Defender has not disappointed. The P300 is peppy on the highway and I never felt like it was lacking power, and the coil ride seems incredibly comfortable. In fact, I can't tell much of a difference from the air suspension rides I had. I'm sure if I did a direct A/B comparison I'd notice, but seriously it's a nice ride. And btw, my drive back from the dealership was nearly 12 hours.

I also feel like I lucked out:
  • Larger 11" infotainment screen
  • Full digital cluster (although I actually think the analog would have been a better fit)
  • Clearview mirror
  • Sunglass holder (!)
  • Soft close cargo door
  • 360 full surround cameras
  • Cold climate pack
  • Sunroof
The previous owner also added:
  • Side steps
  • Rooftop rack
  • Mudflaps
  • Snorkel
  • Under body shield (this was a surprise finding when I got it home)
And the beauty is that since it's a certified pre-owned, my warranty is nearly 4 years and 100k miles. It has 17k on it now.

Anyway, excited to have a Defender again and looking forward to a fun summer.

Looks sweet! Where was this deal when I was looking? Lol! I just ordered a D90 P300, should be in my driveway by June/July. For now I have to look at everyone’s photos.

That's a great looking 90

l've got a similar 90 on coils and with the steel wheels.
The larger tyres on those 18" wheels may be contributing to the better ride quality.

But as you say, the Land Rover drives great and the ride is very good.
Mine is a Commercial and more basic specification than yours but l do have the centre console, mud flaps, leather steering wheel and cold weather pack.

Welcome to the p300 coil sprung club 😀 Lots of misconceptions about coil spring suspension . Jlr did a great job on the coils. I was also worried about ride quality, then I ended up driving it and was so pleasantly surprised. Hence when we did the lift coils, we wanted to make sure we didn't lose the ride quality. Also agree on the p300 having plenty of power for the new Defender and is also quite a bit lighter. I am towing

my 19 ft Airstream to Texas from Virginia right now and im on 35s....

Loving my D90 a month later and amazed at the number of thumbs up I've received on the roads around town!

I came across this image yesterday... love how well the Defender DNA is captured in the new Defenders.

Gorgeous 90! I could live with the smaller interior and lower capacity, and would frankly love less car to take care of, but I just couldn't abide the rear seat design. Otherwise, I would've totally ordered a 90 instead of a 110. But they turn my head every time I see one. And yours and the other one on this thread are real beauties.

Congratulations on yours; it looks great!

Myron

While the new Defender is a world apart from the old version, the DNA is definitely there.

l did 90,000 miles in my 2005 110 before switching to a new Defender 90.

No worries about rear seat design in mine, it's the HT so hasn't got any rear seats

Congratulations and welcome back to the club!

You’ve discovered the secret a few of us already know: if you want one with all the bells and whistles you go look for an early ‘22 and if you can get a CPO even better.

I have a 110 with air suspension and my wife has a 110 with coils and I can honestly say I don’t know the difference other than when I need to lower mine to load stuff on it lol
