Default Remote Door Unlock will not work

Hi there

My car keys are in the car. I locked it using the app. However now the LR Remote App will not let me unlock the car. .

Currently in Spain on Holiday and Land Rover Assistance in Lyon have been pretty useless so far. They sent out a mechanic after 3 hours only for him to say there is nothing he could do.

Signed in and signed out of the App and reinstalled it a couple of time and still they same issue. All the other features work like starting the climate control , beep and flash .

The car is a 2022 P400e .

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Jasen - Not_InControl.

UPDATE. It turns out JLR disabled the unlock feature on their App due to a security issue.

I have the keys now . A mechanic used inflatable pads and a rod to get into the car.

Thanks for all the useful information.

Did you reboot your phone?
Do you have the second key with you, or are you doing all of this with one key and the app on your phone?

I don't have any strong solutions, just trying to baseline what there is to work with. I would think JLR can ping the vehicle and see it, but maybe that's a stretch.

This sounds a bit harsh, but if you spend too much time. Which on a trip means money and try various services to unlock the car at even more money yet. There comes a point that breaking the window is a bargain. On my insurance, it is free, since I have 100% non-deductible glass coverage. You do not necessarily have to share all the facts with your insurer. However, if I am a clumsy fool and break my own window, they pay for it anyhow.

Just a thought.

No need to break a window. Retired now, but while on the job as a firefighter we carried a lockout kit, consisting of an inflatable bladder, plastic wedges, a hand squeezed bulb, much like the old style blood pressure cuffs and a long, sectional bendable soft steel rod. We used them for freeing a child locked in a hot car when time was of the essence. Could we just break the window with a Halligan bar? Sure, but why cause damage and incur cost to the already distressed parent. As a Training Officer, once we became aware of the ease of use, we put them on all our rigs. Most mobile locksmiths should have one. After placing a plastic wedge between the trailing edge of the door and the B-pillar and opening a small gap, enough to place the inflatable bladder, it was inflated just enough to insert the rod, which after eyeballing the distance and angle to reach the door unlock button, and placing the requisite bend to accomplish this, or occasionally grabbing the door handle with the bend or hook formed in the rod, the door was open in less than a minute. With no damage. I suggest you call around and locate the proper locksmith who can perform this for you.

I have used just such a kit out at Burning Man. Turns out the PLL codes on our handi-talkies would activate the door locks on the cheap rental trucks we used. Kind of like the million monkeys typewriter thing. Happened three times (thankfully with different people), with the Airspace truck out on the runway or out by the windsock. Naturally our truck only had one key. The little kit worked super well.

Now if one looks at the doors on the Defender, trailing edge, nope no joy there. It is too wide and actually quite sturdy metal. The front, no access without breaking parts. I had thought to suggest that, but walked out to the truck to see where I would have to insert the wedges and bladder. You would damage more expensive stuff and most likely permanently bend the door. Damm Defender is made out of sturdy stuff. Not like a cheap F150 truck.

I salute the folks that did it without damaging it. I know I would have. The A pillar has that fragile piece of plastic and the roof, at least mine, has that incredibly delicate black paint and a rather large lip. You see practice makes perfect.

I gave the mechanic a big hug and a bigger tip.
