BUT, if you think about it you may even have to go to the front door or window nearest the vehicle to get the fob in range. With the app, the functional range is not an issue. My greatest benefit from the app system is being able to begin packing up my beach gear on a stifling Florida day, start my Defender remotely, while still on the beach, to activate the climate system while the interior temperature is about 120 degrees, so that when I reach my vehicle in the blazing parking lot, it is already cooled down to a livable temperature. Which, by the way, you cannot do with a button on a key fob. Additionally, I like the app because I can open it on my iPhone, verify that it is locked, alarmed, windows up, doors closed, how much fuel is remaining and the remaining miles until empty. And I can check my past trips in ‘Journeys’, see the time between my start point and arrival at my destination and the average miles per gallon for each trip. Can’t do that with a button on a key fob.

The app isn’t the problem. It’s great (when it works).. but there should be both. To just have only the app is counterintuitive.

I think it's a money grab. If you want all the app features, we can pay $120 a year, but if you just want to start a car with a fob, you should have that as an option, and it should be included!

A fob will limit you to line of sight starting. At least the app starts it from anywhere I have wifi or cell coverage. I may be lucky and don't want to jinx it, but I've only had one instance of it saying it started, and it actually didn't start.
I do use the app daily and also use the Defender daily. I find if I don't use it, I end up with connection issues with other functions such as spotify.

What I'd like to see is the ability to heat the windshield and turn on the heated seats. That would be really nice. I still have to wait for the windshield to heat up to clear the ice before I can leave. At least now I'm sitting in a decently warmed up vehicle, but it would save more time to have those functions available.

Also I read others are setting the climate control to hellfire in the app thinking it will warm up faster. It won't. It just tells the logic how long to leave it running. Mine is set for 72f and the outside temp might be -4f. Doesnt warm up any faster if I change it to 85f.

It's not that key fob > app, it's that other manufacturer's allow you to have both. I find it a little amusing that my Rams and Fords can do it but my Mercedes and Land Rover can't....how are the domestic guys ahead in this area?!

Do you mean the vents blow on the windshield? Or the winter package heated front windshield button goes on?

I have the heated front windshield and can’t find anywhere on the app to activate it …

The winter package heated windshield. Both the rear defrost and the heated windshield activate when I remote start, albeit at different thresholds. It seems the windshield only activates when it’s colder, compared to the rear defrost. So some days, when it’s not that cold, only the rear defrost turns on automatically

Here’s a pic.. you can see the windshield, melting pattern is from the in-glass filaments. And the lights are off since they don’t turn on when you remote start the vehicle

When scrolling through my functions on PiviPro last night I noticed there is a toggle for windshield heater and another for rear defrost to start automatically. Wish I could remember where I was but if those options are turned on, then I believe the remote start activates them if the outside temp is cold enough - whatever temp that may be. I still wish the seat heaters and steering wheel would turn on as well. Maybe some later iteration?

Heck, the '22 Silver-D-do I rented for two days while my D90S gets a ceramic coat and interior just powers up when you hit the button twice. Easy enough.
