Default Removing rear window cover on 130 Outbound

I’ve searched the forum and hit up a couple of AIs with no joy.

Has anyone removed this panel to expose the window behind it or actually know someone who’s done it? I asked the parts guy to see if he could lookup a diagram showing the cover part and he was clueless.

Not looking to hypothesize, looking for real world data.

Thanks.

It is not a panel. The glass is actually painted over believe it or not. I am an Outbound owner and considered having it replaced with glass from my dealership or Safelite but decided PPF it in piano black gloss instead.

Well I beg to differ, mine is a panel which you can see in these pictures and the parts guy said at the dealer it was a panel too but he was unable to pull a parts diagram showing the Outbound’s additional parts.

I took some pics and a video of the inside glass and you can clearly see the adhesive pads as well as an interesting antenna system that I’m pretty sure doesn’t exist on the regular 130.

I’m going to call NA HQ and if that doesn’t get me the details I have a good friend in the UK who knows people at JLR who should have some insight.

Ultimately I’ll probably just wrap it with gloss black like you said

Sorry my bad. After a more thorough inspection you are absolutely correct, although I cannot find the adhesive pads on the inside. Makes more sense now that I think about it. I wonder if it would be possible to just pull it off carefully and scrape the adhesive of the glass with a razor blade. Not sure I want to be the Guinea pig on this yet…lol. It looks really good with the high gloss PPF on it, but it would be nice to see out of that window when you need to. I’d love to know if you find out any additional details on it. Thanks

I thought the same thing but the antenna matrix thing intrigues me and I don't think the glass is tinted. One of the things I want to ask JLR is what is the purpose of the antenna grids. My parts guy, who I admittedly only spent 10 minutes talking to on the day I picked up the car, said it looked to him like the glass was the same but it's obviously not. I need to understand why it's so different before I consider making any modifications. Also, on looking at all the pictures of standard Fuji White 130's simply wrapping the panel itself and the corner piece the wraps around the back will give it the "finished" look I'm going for and that's a heck of a lot cheaper than re-engineering the rear panel and glass.

Between these two I think the one that blacks out the rear corner piece looks better and what's great about wrap is I can always remove it if I get tired of it. The top one is someone who used matte black wrap, I'm not a fan, it's need to be gloss black, or piano black, as you said.

This is only something Land Rover could come up with and I believe it’s referred to as a hardtop in the UK. I am chuckling when I say this because I absolutely love this vehicle, way more than my 22’ 110. Probably best not to assume it would be NA spec’d tinted glass. FYI…my PPF guy recommended the piano black over the standard gloss black as it was thicker/glossier and looks more like glass. He wrapped the A,B,C and D pillars in the same. Nobody even realizes it’s not glass. Here are some pics:

That’s exactly the look I’m going for. That looks great and I’ll ask for the piano black.
