Replacing spare / rotation question
Hi everyone,
Recently got a sidewall puncture in my 2025 Defender (10k miles of mostly light road wear so far as far as I know, tires same since new - bought at 8.5k). Put the spare on for the punctured tire but now wondering if I should go ahead and just rotate in the replacement wheel when I purchase or if that is too high of a mileage gap between the original tires and the new one. Plan would be to continue to 5 tire rotate with annual oil change. I figure I already have the (as far I know) 0 mile spare on one of the back tires so it shouldn't hurt to add another. Apologies if this is a dumb question, and thank you for any help in advance!

Pirelli Scorpion Zero All Season 255/60 R20 - it's what came with it. I'd like to put something else on eventually but will wait until I've gotten some more use out of them / need to replace multiple.
If you put on a spare, you’ll need to have it shaved down to match the rest of the tires. That is too much of a diameter difference and will cause excess stress on the drivetrain, which will cause issues down the line.
You should either a). get a new set of five tires, or b). shave the spare down to match the rest.

Shaving a tire is cheap. about 20 bucks if you bring in your own tires and usually free if you purchase the tire from the tire store. Tire stores will usually refuse to add a new tire of different diameter than the rest to the vehicle unless shaved. I would not trust the stores credibility if they did add a new one to the mix.
