@clb87 , is this the one you found on eBay?

Yours looks nice.
I do have to say, at $117, it’s a bit pricier than I assumed… I guess I was expecting something in the neighborhood of $49-$69. That said, it handily beats the OEM MSRP of $353. Even Rimmer’s heavy discount on the OEM ($262) is more than twice as much.
I think the rubber border on yours actually makes it look a little more premium than the OEM version. Hopefully the rubber is of good quality and holds up. Though if it does fade or crack over time, I guess you could always just strip or trim it off, and be back at the fully OEM look.
(I was unable to find anything in the rules about posting auction or product site links… so if I’ve batted a foul by linking the above, I apologize, and mods please remove)

That said, bright steel finished with a plastic or poly sealer may highlight crazing from claw marks more than a dark grey or black thermoplastic ABS would. Particularly an ABS with a textured finish, which should further disguise scratch marks.
I have no idea if the OEM scuff plate (or the eBay replica) is finished with a sealer or not… Someone who owns either scuff plate should be able to test this: get a plastic picnic/takeout knife and try scratching a small section of the steel. If you can make a mark that can’t be removed with a little rubbing alcohol, then the steel is sealed with something.

That one looks a little different and appears to cover more of the rear bumper, which might actually be better. Here is the one I purchased:

I have not tested to see if a magnet sticks but will when I get back to my house tomorrow. I was planning on putting a ceramic coating on it to keep it protected. Overall, I wish the Defender had a non-sloped rear bumper as I believe that would be more practical. My main objective though was to keep scratches off the painted middle section so time well tell if this accomplishes that goal.

My plan is to just use the vehicle and when that area is scratched up, then i will install the scuff plate on top of it. To me, what’s the point of covering up a perfectly new area with something that is sort of “permanent” with adhesive as the perfectly new area once covered by the scuff plate will “never” see the light of the day ever again practically speaking. Of course, if someone is install it for aesthetic reason, then it would make sense to do it at any point.
