Rescue Ongoing After Cargo Ship Laden with Vehicles Catches Fire in Mid-Atlantic.
No idea if any JLR products are on here but Porsche issues a statement:
"We are aware of an incident aboard the Felicity Ace, a specialized cargo ship carrying certain Porsche vehicles. Your dealership will provide you with additional information on how this impacts you as soon as we have additional information and know the full scope of the issue."
LISBON, Portugal — Portugal’s navy said Wednesday that 22 crew members were being evacuated from a large cargo ship that caught fire near the mid-Atlantic Azores Islands.
The Felicity Ace sounded the alarm after a fire broke out in the hold, the Portuguese Navy said in a statement. The ship was carrying vehicles, the navy said.
The 200-meter-long (650-feet-long) ship was sailing from Emden in Germany to the port of Davisville in the U.S. state of Rhode Island, according to online vessel trackers.
Portugal’s navy said one of its patrol boats and four merchant vessels were helping with the rescue. Portuguese air force aircraft were also mobilized. A Portuguese Navy spokesperson said he had no more details about the ongoing operation.

Based on the departure port in Germany, Emden, and where it was supposed to arrive -North Kingston US, it may not be carrying LRs.
Then again, with all the "supply chain issues" it might....
Bad situation overall.

3 Transatlantic cruises, I had the pleasure of visiting Punta Delgada twice and Tenerife once (driving into and over the clouds was spectacular). Beautiful places. Horribly rough seas off the coast of Portugal though. Looks like somewhere around 20 ft right now.
Ironically, her sister ship Cougar Ace set a record for delivery of 5214 autos in one stop in Canada. It later, while carrying $117M in vehicles (4812 vehicles) developed a 60 degree list (wave / ballast issue). Almost all vehicles were Mazdas. Almost all were salvaged after a month strapped in the hold sideways and Mazda attempted to sell them. They later gave up and popped all the airbags and then crushed them all.
Cougar Ace (sister ship to the Felicity Ace).

This could be one expensive fire.
That looks like a total loss - even if they salvage some.
Very interesting probability, that EV fire - but we'll never find out....I think.
I think my Defender was delivered on the Felicity Ace last June. One of the Ace's.
It figures the ship would experience an engine fire while carrying Porsches.
When it carried my Land Rover it was becalmed for two weeks in the Atlantic while they tried to sort out the wonky electronics and a Nav system that kept rebooting every time they hit a wave.
