It has to be especially irksome that the TSB flat out admits they were manufactured improperly and then somehow suggests that water will fix the issue.

This would be the process if JLR won't help you.

I do applaud JLR in trying to find something for the seats with more life than leather. Particularly on the bolsters, even high quality leather wears out before 150K miles. The Defender is cutting edge in more ways than one.

Unfortunately, they just whiffed in their first attempt. I suppose they feel and felt compelled to have the fabric be different and attractive, as well as long-lasting and cleanable.

I hope RobusTec will do better in all these areas.

The fabric is different and attractive - they just failed to seal the material and as such it is massively susceptible to stains and discoloration.

It's also a ****ty thing to have to deal with on such an expensive vehicle.

I suspect coating it fills up the 3D voids and changes the look and feel. Just a guess on my part.

Otherwise, I suspect they would keep it -- for it is not your normal, bland looking cloth fabric.

Word is that the imporoperly treated seat covers (not Robustec - those are fine) are now being replaced in UK versions. Apparently there is a new TSB there for it but dealers aren't necessarily forthcoming about it yet.

A replacement would be ideal but it has not reached the US yet. All I heard was they are now replacing the fabric seats with all leather in '22 models. If I could get mine replaced under warranty then I would be happy - but I doubt this will happen. If there's a TSB I'd love to see it.

I'm going to put this in the "68% probably reliable" category but It isn't being offered up unless the owner pushes for it and they've already attempted 1 cleaning. The new TSB exists in the UK and it involves JLR replacing the seat covers completely.

They already admitted it's a defect in the original TSB. Doesn't sound improbable that they would eventually rectify it.

Does anyone have a copy of the UK TSB so I can take it to my dealer and demand replacement covers?

Thanks.
