Default Roof Box for Defender

Has anyone seen or tried the OEM Land Rover roof box and can recommend it or would a Thule one be better?

Default Made by Thule ?

I believe it’s made by Thule same as the Expedition roof rack

My dealer said there is a shortage of the roof boxes and could not get me one for a while. The base pricing is more expensive then the thule branded equivalent size.

I bought the defender cross bars which I was told were made by thule. I got them at a better price than thule equivalent after my dealer price matched an online price.

I saw a box at the dealer on top of a disco and it looked nice a few months back. I believe its equivalent to the large size of the thule boxes. I am debating going with an xl or xxl in the motion XT line.

I’ve got the Thule Motion XT XXL and it’s absolutely massive, and awesome. Mounted on top of OEM Defender crossbars

Do you have a photo from the side by chance?

What made you go with the xxl over xl?

‘Sorry no side pic yet, I’ll snap a side shot when I mount it back on again soon. The choice between xxl and xl: easy one, I couldn’t find the XL in stock anywhere but the XXL was in stock locally and it fits great too. The length is almost the exact length of the Defender roofline.

Sorry, I don't have a photo of the box on our Defender from the side either, but we have the Motion XT XL and use the OEM crossbars. It worked great and carried what we needed (in our case, it was some bags, beach umbrellas, beach chairs...basically bulky things we didn't want to take up the internal cargo area with).

I have photos of the same box on our Jeep JL. Not sure if that helps.

AgentMir - great simple hitch extender. Need something to get bike rack past spare. Can you provide brand or site where you picked it up. Thanks.

I have the Thule ForceXT XL. Fits great, holds a tonne, but is also very noisy. I need to find a way to deaden the vibrations.
