Scout Traveler: The Ultimate Off-Roader?
Looks impressive, but nobody wants an EV for an off-road/overland vehicle. Just doesn't make sense. Yeah it has a range extender, but most people don't put EVs and off-road together. Look how many Rivian owners use their vehicles off-road. Almost none. Also cool that it is a body-on-frame design in a world of skateboard platform EVs. Also likely that these will be quality vehicles and serviceability should be easy since it is part of VW. Color me impressed, but I'll keep my Defender.

It does give off Rivian vibes, but it is actually part of the VW Group. VW acquired the rights to the Scout name when they bought Navistar in 2021.
I must say that the Scout holds no nostalgia for me. We had them as Uni vehicles for field work. Frankly they were tuna tins that stank. Pretty much have a total negative connotation in my mind. Of course it has nothing to do with a new version, just a badge and a sickly color. Really, like the Defender, resembles the previous version in spelling only.
As for electric, I hear RotoPax has their new blue versions of the fuel cans. They hold 20 minutes of electrons you can pour into your battery. Just need a tiny funnel.

Electric driven power could be superior to combustion engines for off-road use depending on how it’s implemented. I won’t hold my breath that they spent any significant amount of time making that a primary use case vs heading to the mall though.
