I don't have my 110 yet, but to get at the ski rack on my LR4, here is what I do: Open the driver side rear passenger door, place an old towel on the seat. Step-up with your left foot on the towel/seat and your right foot on top of the rear tire. Hand the skis down if traveling with someone else. If alone, it's a little trickier to step down with the skis in your right hand while holding onto the roof rack with your left hand. Not sure if this works with a 110 but worth a try.
To deal with bikes on top of the LR4, I bring a 3-foot aluminum step ladder.

I use a Thule pull top ski rack which slides out to allow easy loading and unloading. I’m amazed most people with SUV’s haven’t even heard of this rack as I’m always getting questions about it at the hill, but it’s essential for any tall suv. No need for a ladder with this, and very easy to install on any crossbar with or without t-slots. Thule SnowPack Extender Ski/Snowboard Rack, Aluminum
