Default P400 towing

New P400 owner. Looking to purchase a new 25’ travel trailer with with a GVWR OF 6900 lbs and a tongue weight of 700 lbs. I have lots of experience with RV’s but had never pulled a travel trailer before. Couple of questions:

Is the wheel base of the defender too short to pull this?

Do is the tongue weight going to be an issue?

what about payload?

and most importantly should there be a sticker on the defender that tell me what the tow ratings are ? There is no “yellow sticker on the drivers door frame that the folks on the travel trailer forum keep insisting must be there!

thanks

You should have no problems towing that trailer. We tow a slightly larger 26'. It pulls extremely well even at 80MPH, but it also drinks a lot of gas. I would make sure you get a brake controller before towing.

Thank you. Do you use a weight distribution hitch?

I have been, because I always used it with my LR4 to reduce sway. The manual says not to use it, and apparently it puts more stress on the suspension and the frame. The LR4 had a ladder frame and I was never concerned. I'm considering towing without it next time to see if the Defenders stability control sufficiently controls the sway. So that's a long way to say, I have been, but I'm considering not using one going forward.

Those D-rings in the back, are they the ones you screw in or the ones that are permanent placement beneath the bumper?

Have you considered using an electronic sway control system like the one from Hayes or Tucson? Link to comparison below.

They're factory and bolt onto the bumper. I purchased them through PowerfulUK because of the trim piece that makes the installation look a bit cleaner. https://www.powerfuluk.com/vehicles/...kit-black.html
