SLIDERS: who has full coverage HD sliders, which brand, why ?
I watched the L8 video about theirs, and have seen some other designs, but my classic "Rover Specialties" sliders for the LR3 are kind of a benchmark for truly solid design that you can lift the vehicle from along the bar with no issue and full coverage from sill to frame. While the L663 has no "frame" the idea of coverage under the body 12+ inches is important of course.
Then there's how to fit onto an OCTA as seen in the L8 video.
Photo is the awesome Asfir Differential guard on my LR3. It's steel and about 30 lbs just for that 16x16" shape ! I had to modify its shape to account for the Magnaflow exhaust seen in one of the photos. The sliders are visible in the photos as well. They are 100 lbs each! I had them industrial bath dipped galvanized, then powder-coated.
Well crap, I typed out a whole reply the other day but apparently it didn’t “send”/
Are you talking for your new Octa? Yes, L8 is your option. Since that’s the one that we’ve seen a video of them being installed on the Octa.
No sliders on the market currently fit Octa out of the box (which I am sure you are aware of). Someone I’m sure will come out with something eventually that fit the bottom around the 6D suspension bits, which is the problem.
Remember, heavier is not necessarily better. There’s a balance.
I run the Tuffants on my 110 and am very happy. There’s been one reported failure of the Tuffant sliders on a mate of mine’s truck with a bad weld failing when he used it to pivot on a. tree -- but we believe it was a manufacturing failure, and not a problem with all of them. It was on his first trip offroad with them. I’ve used mine several times in the same manner and they’ve held up. And for weeks in Moab on rocks. They’re durable AF. I like the Tuffants because there is a whole set of underbody armor that works in conjunction with the sliders to cover up th whole underside. Again, non-octa l663.
For heavy-duty sliders, Lucky 8 is a top choice for their strength and coverage. Since you have an OCTA, call them directly to confirm fitment before buying.
yeah, thanks, i am aware of the L8 sliders but am not interested in having to remove important underbody panels and other modifications just to get them on when it should be a bolt-on deal that does not reduce what the vehicle has to offer - the sound deadening of those huge panels is a very nice aspect on such a vehicle.

I like the integrated approach of that TuffAnt design. Someone will make a proper ?oCTA version soon enough.
It occurs to me that certain non-octa designs may be simpler than others to adapt while leaving the factory panels intact.
