Default Snow mode unavailable

Well, we got some snow here in Seattle. Defender won't go into snow mode. Fantastic! It will go into Comfort and Auto modes, but even then you can't switch modes on the fly, you have to turn off the engine and restart it in order to switch from one to the other. Any ideas? It worked fine last time it snowed, which was in Feb.

Maybe your speed was fast to change the modes? Just click the 4x4 button in the console and turn the dial to the mode settings you like?

I almost always use Auto. It will figure out the snow pretty well.

Default Even popping out of Auto

Hmm. Nope, I was not going too fast. Seems like a software glitch, possibly related to the last update. While it's true that Auto mode works fine with the snow we have in the city right now, it's really annoying to have a bunch of expensive features that I can't use. The vehicle was also going back into Comfort mode from Auto mode without any input from me, which is potentially dangerous, especially since none of the other modes were available while I was driving, so I couldn't put it back into Auto mode without turning off the vehicle and restarting it.

Did you try resetting PIVI?

It's fascinating - this fixes so many issues, but it is hard to get into the mindset of treating a vehicle just like a personal computer.

No, I have not re-set the Pivi, but seems that may fix it. Connectivity info tells me that the most recent software update was installed successfully, and Apple Carplay has been functioning well. At the moment I'm hesitant to reset anything because below freezing temps are forecast here for most of the week, and we are getting more snow on Thursday. This is the only vehicle we have that's capable of doing deliveries for our business given the road conditions. I have a call in to our dealership service dept this morning, and am waiting to get a call back.

Reset to factory shouldn't delete your software.
