Powertrain has no effect on what software updates you get. Updates are sent out in batches based on your VIN. Sometimes there will be powertrain refinements in the updates, and it will say that in the release notes. For example, they might update something to refine the P400's throttle response, but if you have a P300 or V8, you'll get the same update, minus the updates exclusive to the P400. I'm on 4.3.1. Not all cars get updated at once. It can sometimes take a few months to get an update that others already have.

JLR is apparently pausing all updates until they fully get the cyber attack sorted out and back up and running. It will probably be a while before updates are sent out again. Wouldn't be surprised if we don't get any updates until after the first of the year.

You can take your car to the dealer to force an update, but usually it's better to just wait until your car receives it.

Wow, 4.9 isnt listed above, which is the official list of Land Rover for the defender, it is interesting, is there someone who has the update 4.9 now? To tell us what is getting better or what is changing? Thanks

I have 2023 P400 75th D90 and I'm still stuck at 4.2 and showing no sign of update availability. When I checked with my local dealer while back, they can't 'force' software update if it's not showing up on my OTA update. =(

My two 2023 Defenders (110x & 90x) updated this weekend from 4.3.0 to 4.3.1. Last updated Feb 2025. Cyber glitch must be behind us now.
