Default Software wont update, dealer says 'latest version'

I have a 2020 Defender 110, X.

Current software installed is 2.1.6b, which came out for the defender in mid-late 2021.

Software is not updating. I took it to the dealer and they said 'its the latest version' and '3.3.2' isnt for my car. I dont have features like 'wireless carplay'

I know this isnt accurate, but I need some way to prove it to them.

My suspicion is that my headunit is defective or having software issues since it wont update and landrover corporate doesnt want to deal with it, likely from a lack of parts.

Landrover corporate confirms that I should have 'wireless carplay' when I called but I doubt those people talk to each other ( from the generic help line )

Any ideas?

They told me the same when mine was stuck and wouldn't update late last year.

I removed my account from the profile on the vehicle and recreated it (which is a PITA). Also connected to home wireless when parked overnight and disconnected the cellular network connection in the vehicle (which has poor coverage where I live). Left it for a couple of nights and it updated.

BUT, I was only two versions out of date. Yours is so old it may not update to the latest. But worth trying these steps nonetheless before you make a warranty claim

The last time I had an issue with software the dealer did a TCU update and then the software update and it worked. I didn’t know if you’re tried that but you can ask.

Same issue here on a 2023. Will be making an appt with dealer to due the service bulletin. My Pivi has never updated since purchase. I get in every now and then and it will say 40% downloaded and that’s the best I’ve gotten. Super frustrating.

Wowhark, did you ever get resolved?

I was stuck on 2.1.6 and dealer forced an update in the shop. Got all the good stuff like wireless carplay etc, but now I hear there is a new pivi update and my system still says 2.1.6.

Do I have a defective TCU? Why won't I get teh SOTA updates. To my knowledge they even did the N795 Bulletin procedure. Still nothing. Frustrating.

Mine doesn't even download anything.
It is stuck on version 3.3.2.

Are you sure they did the N795 Bulletin procedure ?
If so, you have a bigger problems in hands. Hope it isn't a defective TCU !

Yeah, these things should be updating every 4-6 months (at least that's been my experience). My wifi is weak in the garage and I rarely drive my car, and even mine is updating fine. I'd take it in and have them figure it out. There are several service bulletins about OTA (over the air) updates, there have been a few separate issues since 2020 causing the OTA's not to occur. I don't have any of them handy but I remember reading a few different ones (separate issues from 2020 onwards).

EDIT: This may be your issue. The N795 update the poster above referenced. See attached PDF, here is what it addresses in summaryFOR THE ATTENTION OF ALL: DESCRIPTION OF ISSUE

A potential concern has been identified on specific vehicles within the above vehicle range. Certain 2020 to 2022 Land Rover vehicles are failing to complete Software Over The Air (SOTA) updates, specifically Vehicle Domain Controller (VDC) and PIVI. These vehicles have now been stopped from further SOTA attempts and require a wired intervention.
