Still getting used to the audible proximity sensors on the Defender, which feel as though they are possibly too conservative. Instead of going old school "tennis ball from the ceiling" to determine if I am parked where I want in the garage, I came up with an alternate method.
I took a picture of the Defender puddle lamps, and extracted a template from the image.
My wife then used her Cricut printer to create a 10 x 10 decal, which I stuck to the wall in the garage. Now, I just line the top of the Defender image at the top of the screen of the front camera, and presto... I'm parked.
I think its great! You just need a visual reference to make sure you are in and as long as your seat height doesn't change much, you should be fine. I assume that you have more than enough wiggle room on either end of the car now?
Since we're using the front camera to align the image with the top of the screen, seat height doesn't matter. No more fear of "someone else" not parking in the right spot. Although the overhead image is a bit distorted (pictured above), you can see there is plenty of room to walk all the way around the Defender without having to suck in my gut.
