I have the white steelies on my base 110, with matching white roof and blue body. I think it looks great.
Functionality of the 18s for off reading vs larger wheels if you are sticking to the pavement is totally a personal choice.
I have don’t keep my car spotless - it is a functional car meant to be used, and I live in an area with a lot of rain. But that being said - when I do wash the car the wheels clean off no problem. And in general I don’t think they look any more dirty than the rest of the car.
I have generally seen two different aesthetic choices:
1) Keeping more in line with the original Defenders. Usually blue, green, or white, usually with the white roof and steel wheels. These usually don’t add too many of the aesthetic “upgrades.” This is what mine is.
2) More of a modern looking car, often with more of the black accents and other aesthetic upgrades. I think these can look good too. I think this falls more in line with the styling you see on Range Rovers and other modern LR vehicles.
I have a 110 X Dynamic SE in Pangea, and because of the trim level it’s all piano-black on the outside. I swapped the rear calipers and bought a set of the steelies in black (a la Trek Edition trucks) and mounted my off-roading tires on them (275/70-18s, aka 33s). I don’t keep them on the truck other than mounting them for off-roading trips, but they look great. Very happy. Here’s the truck with the 20s, I don’t have any pix with the 18s yet.

We're Pangea with black pack and black wheels too
I think it's a nice, functional and low maintenance option.option.
But I do admit how pretty the blue/white combo can be.

right, I am technically ordering one that comes with 19”s standard (s) but I’m sizing them down to 18s + white roof + paid for color … lots of money spent on aesthetics
Another voice to add to the love-fest for the white steels.
I wish they had been an option on my p400. White wheels with a white roof is like
I think the silver alloys on my Defender look daft. I wasn't willing to spend any money to upgrade them as I think all the alloys this big are daft on a Defender.
The OEM 18" alloys look excellent. Would have been a hard call to make between them and the steel.
I'd have happily paid extra to swap out 20's for either of the 18" OEM options.
18" OEM alloys (front Tasman) look so much better than the 20"(mine hiding in the rear)
White steelies matter. Seriously, zero regrets. I've curbed a few times so far, not a single mark or concern with the wheels, it's so nice for a change coming from Audi and my alloys.
Plus you could always paint them black if you wanted to. I dunno why LR just doesn't make an optional black powder coat variant or something in the configurator because I think with a blacked out roof I'd want that. With the white roof the white steelies pop. Anyway. That's my two cents. Enjoy!
