Thule rubber strips for expedition roof rack bars : pro-tip
So I actually use the t-slots on these bars to mount items to my roof rack. As many of you know when you do this you have to remove, move or cut the rubber strip. Or if you’ve ever slid your rooftop tent or lumber or other items these strips will come out and sometimes even fly away.
Searching the Internet you will find a few replacement strips on eBay for crazy prices like $50 or $60 for one strip. so I called my local dealer part department and they can’t find the strips to order individually but after a conversation and being friendly, they said they had a few boxes of extras from previous expedition roof rack installs and then I was welcome to some of the strips. I went by and they gave me about a half dozen. Probably more than I’ll ever need! Apparently when they get a defective rack or missing bars they can’t order parts and just have to get a whole new rack so they have some spares laying around. Just check with your local dealer and sweet talk the parts guys!
