Default Time for New tires

Running a set of aftermarket 22’s with Nitto Recon Grapplers. wasn’t overly impressed with the tire. A bit more noise that i expected. Can’t say much about its off road performance. i chose an AT for looks.

Im debating to go back to an all season tire but i can’t remember how much quieter they were.

I see Nitto now had the Nomad Grappler in a 285/45/22 size. more a road and light off road tire.

anybody have any experience with them?

I don't have experience with the Nomad Grappler but I do have a F150 Tremor and it came with General Grabber AT's - I was a bit worried about them but they are quiet for an AT tire and do fine on the pavement.

If you do decide on an all season I suggest you take a look at the Michelin Defender LTX M/S2. I opted for this tire on my 22" Urban wheels in 285/45/22 fitment. They feel just as plush and quiet as the Pirelli all seasons that came on the stock 20" wheels. I notice the Michelins track straighter too. On the Pirellis I felt I had to do a ton of microcorrections to keep the vehicle driving straight.

Losing out on that AT look but I find it oddly satisfying running a 'Defender' tire on the Defender.

Purchased from Tirerack. Plenty of positive reviews and ratings there you could dive into.

BF Goodrich also has a great tire for the Defender in the 22 size.

interesting, just reading this now after my new post on essentially same as what you have with the grapplers, although mine is more about the 305's. Were yours that much road noise?? reading that the recons are supposed to be a bit quieter, hmmm. have me reconsidering now

I’ve got recons, I notice some road noise at 40-50, minimal on highway. I do 50 miles round trip and have almost 5k on my defender

I’ve been running Continental AT TerrainContact and so far very happy with them. I have 22s. 95% on road they are quiet with good wet grip.

I’m running Toyo Open Country A/T III’s in 285/45-22 and they are awesome in my opinion.

I recently put the new Bridgestone Dueler A/T Ascent on LR4 and love them - very quiet. I went with 255/55/R20 because I didn't want to mess with spacers, scrub radius issues, or adjusting the spare tire hold, but there are quite a few 20' size options.

I would love to put Michelin Defender LTX M/S2 on my stock 22" wheels but see they don't offer a direct replacement. I tried searching the forum to see if people have used a different size on the stock wheels, but I came up short. Anyone have any recommendations?
