timed climate control
I have a 2024 Defender X and when it got cold here recently in the UK I decided to use the timed climate control to have the car warm up in the morning before I use it. Turns out my car doesn't have timed climate control (I can turn it on manually using the InControl app, but wanting to set a timer to do this everyday at a set time just isn't a thing with my car apparently).
I contacted LR directly and they told me its not a standard feature on my model and might not have been available as an optional extra when I purchased the car. I'm calling bullsh!t on this. It seems to be a standard feature on the X model now (at least its doesn't appear as an optional extra on the website) and it's a standard feature on my little Mini and most other cars on the road. Should it be available on my car and for some reason is just not appearing as a menu item on the touch control screen in the car, or are LR correct and my car, that cost a ridiculous amount of money, just doesn't have it?

This may be a feature that has to be enabled using the gap tool. A surprising number of big ticket items require no additional hardware and can be activated through a configuration setting. Several folks on this site offer a service to enable features.
It's not a thing that my '23 has, nor have I seen it in the CCF codes as something to change.
JLR's version of autostart simply warms the inside up to the predetermined temp, and then stops. If it can't get to the temp it shuts off after 30 minutes. You can't start it again until the doors have been opened, closed, and locked again.
There are lots of differences between car makers, it pays to do the upfront research on things that matter to individuals. I'm more disappointed that the heated seats don't automatically turn on when autostart is used.

I've been using it on numerous ski trips, and it is puzzling. In fact, if the vehicle is warming up off the remote start, and I go to load the rear with our ski gear, the vehicle shuts off. I then just discovered (this weekend in 15 degree temps) that you cannot restart it until you open the doors (as you indicated above). My wife's Escalade not only has a remote button start, but actually gets warm inside the cabin, as well as it having the seat and wheel warmer on.
I don't understand why LR wouldn't have this functionality. Seems like a small computer programming issue. I posted this in another forum too, and haven't gotten any good direction yet. I wonder if that PowerfulUK guy has a solution? I got reverse lights from him a couple years ago that allow me to actually see behind me at night in the mountains! LOL

Security feature. I’ve been using remote start on my ‘22 for years. It will start remotely and climate will run at set temperature for 30 minutes. Vehicle must be locked, all windows up. If vehicle has sat for more than several days, I forget the actual number, it will go into sleep mode and remote start will not work until it has been unlocked and started, although there may be a way to wake it remotely. If there is no attempt at unlocking and entering the vehicle it will shut off after 30 minutes. Any other attempt at entry, such as via the rear door will cause the vehicle to shut down to prevent theft. That’s been my belief and experience the past couple of years of ownership. Model years may vary, can only speak for my own.
