Default Tire Cover Options

I have a 2022 with the 18ins on it. I really dislike the modern tire cover, and was looking into the vintage ones that came on the discovery IIs. has anyone seen them mounted on a new defender? Theoretically they should fit since theyre made for 18in wheel fitments for the discovery, and I have 18in wheels. I just hadn't seen anyone do it.

I didn't like the new tire covers either, they looked too "Toyota" for my old school taste. So I made my own about 6 months ago. I have 20" wheels, so I bought the right size rigid black cover from Boomerang and got some automotive decals from isaydingdong.com.uk. They even made a custom old style size without the extra Solihull lettering. I replaced the oval stock badge too with one of theirs that they made for me in a 4.5" size. Very happy with my mods.

You can't just assume that because both cars share 18" wheel diameters that it is going to fit. The spare cover has to go over the whole wheel and tire assembly. If I recall, the old Discos wore 29" overall diameter tires with a 255 width. The new Defender has a setup that is 32" overall (but should be 255 wide as well if on factory tires). It would come down to whether or not that spare cover would have enough slack to stretch and accommodate it. I kind of doubt it would work personally.

AtlanticBritish just started a 15% off sale on them, so I thought - what the heck? I ordered one in the design I liked. If it doesn't work, it wasn't the dumbest way I've thrown away $100 (inclusive of shipping). I'll let folks know if it fits or not when it comes in. For the record, I went with the Elephant design. I REALLY wanted the Amazon version of the Lion King, but obviously someone's copyright attorney filed a complaint or something....

I'm partial to the Safari one...Elephant would be an easy #2. I love these covers and think they look incredible in an "old money" kind of way.

Please do let us know if they work and share pics.

I went Rhino - asked dealer to throw it in at delivery which they gladly did.
