Maybe try some of higher volume OEM JLR dealers with e-parts offerings?

I am on the east coast and rely on these two dealers, because they have low prices and good delivery:

So has anyone located an aftermarket tow hitch for the Defenders? Trying to help by son since the bridge Defender that he might be buying next week (while he waits the six month or so for his build) does not have a factory hitch and does need to tow a small trailer around.

Coming from a 2015 JK wrangler, I bought an aftermarket one/ OEM quality for $75 with electrical harness included that plugs into the taillight harness. I am hoping that something is similar out there for the Defender.

 

I was just looking a bit more for one myself the last few days. It doesn't seem Curtis/Trailers.com carry them yet. I found this on Alibaba yesterday and messaged them to see if they'll send me the hitch only as I don't need the electric tow hook and want to only carry bikes. Seems like they prefer wholesale orders though so not too optimistic. My goal is to get a hitch for less than $400 but maybe I'll have to wait. I'll let you know what they say.

Yeah, I think I've been over analyzing this for months now. Everything is so expensive, but I expected it. I think the hitch bar itself (the big structure part) without any wiring or the cover was around $900 from the dealer and about $2k w/the wiring and plastic cover (that's the non-electric hook version too).

 

Thanks, so theoretically you can buy the big structure bar from the dealer and then throw on a standard 2"x2" with hitch ball?

 

I'd like to think so but have no idea. I defer to others on that question.

Reviving this thread. Anyone knows what the current mechanical tow receiver options are? Wanting to explore the idea of carrying my motorcycle in the back with a bike carrier (the kind that's attached to the tow receiver without wheels)

 

Last I checked, there are no practical aftermarket options. OEM after the fact is like $2K....
