Default Tow mirror options

Anybody find a suitable add-on tow mirror that works on the Defender? Just started using my 22' enclosed trailer and find I can't back it up effectively because with the stock mirrors you can't see $hit!

I searched the interwebs and found no direct fit tow mirror extensions for New Defender. Land Rover does not offer them which I find hilarious as they'll sell you a ramp for your dog to get in the back, you'd think they would fill this void.
I ended up picking up a mirror off of Amazon and modifying it to fit.
Amazon Amazon

The clamps that come with it won't fit the mirror surround but I decided to just use the main tube mounts and connect them to the underside of the mirror housing with rev nuts.
Marked out holes and carefully drill through the first layer of the plastic housing,

Insert M4X1mm aluminum rev nut inserts,

Attached using M4X1mm stainless screws,

I just love when someone takes a drill to their L663! It makes me think I'm not alone in the universe.

@mikelr - Did you put the rivnuts only in the plastic? That puts me in awe. First, because it didn't crack. Second, because I wouldn't think it could handle the stress on it at highway speeds. Here in Texas the speed limits are typically 70-75mph but occasionally 80mph. I would have thought you would have skinned the mirror under those conditions. Let us know the endurance of the mod and crossing my fingers for you.

BTW - I would have loved to see what customer survey led to the decision to a $550 dog ramp. Then again, I admit I live thru my own lens. It would be interesting to know how many of those are actually, legit purchase. I guess they can be readily reused across models, though so the potential increases.

We shall see tomorrow I take it on it's maiden trip down the highway with trailer. Even know it is just in the plastic it's actually pretty solid, I'll be sure to report back on how it holds up going down the road.

These have been out for a while. Not sure why they didn’t come up in your search. https://defender3d.co.uk/products/ol...nting-solution
