Default Trailer Brake System

I just bought a 2020 p400 and I will be towing my airstream with it. I was looking for recommendations on a trailer braking system. I hear there are some good plug and play hard wired and also some Bluetooth. Which is best? Thanks.

This has been discussed at length. Many of us have gone with a Redarc that is plug and play with the Defender, works well, and looks good.

I'm using the Curt Echo which works great except for getting it to reconnect to the mobile app has been a problem. It just keeps working with the previous settings when it's not connected to the app though.

Default Tekonsha wireless brake controller

I use this Tekonsha Prodigy RF and I love it. Works like a charm. Wireless, so no drilling and install.

controller plugs into your cig lighter up front.

Has anyone successfully used a Tekonsha 90195 P3 Brake Controller in a 2020 Defender 110? I took it out of my 2017 Disco and installed it in the Defender...same plug harness, but it is giving me issues (Check Engine Light). The dealer said the engine and Defender are fine, it is just throwing a "Brake" code whenever I connect the trailer for some reason. And when I hit the Defender's brake pedal, the controller is not actuating the brakes on the trailer at all - but if I manually actuate the trailer brakes using the switch on the controller, the brakes work fine. Weird. Just wondering if I need too buy another controller

Not quite the same but close… I use a Tokonsha 90920 in my 2021 D90… I am using the plugin harness and have had no issues with it. Works pretty well although it does seem to show it is feeding the brake line sometimes in start up with no trailer connected. It reverts to the n.c. display after starting and putting in gear.

Can't go wrong with Redarc. Plug and play.

this. I've had four different brake controllers in recent vehicles including the Telkonsha RF unit, and the Redarc is my preference.

I have the Redarc brake controller. The forum highlights the install and there is at least one YouTube. It is straight forward, however as stated in a forum thread you need the body of Simone Biles to do it. I had a U-Haul station certified install and test the Redarc. I supplied the controller and 006 wiring (from Amazon).Took less than 30 min and cost $25.00 US. About the only thing I’ve done on the Defender that was reasonable in cost! It felt good.
