Default TuffAnt Under Armor Install

Just installed the TuffAnt under armor. The instructions lacked a little bit of clarity, but it was a simple install none the less.

Looks good. It was great to meet you on Saturday. Let me know if you ever want to go out exploring in CO. We need to start representing CO like @GavinC does in PNW.

Looks great. My set is in the garage waiting for my 24 year old to come home for the holiday; it will be our Friday project.

Looks like you were able to do the work with just the front wheels up on ramps? I have one set but was considering getting a second to raise all four wheels. What do you recommend?

I also installed these this past weekend. I only lifted the front wheels up about 8 inches, plus off road mode.

Wow! I feel like the only one without.... Anyone have sliders with them? What version? Wonder how "compatible" they are. I already have a set and REALLY don't want to take them off to find out they don't play well together.

I believe they are only compatible if you have the tuffant rock sliders. Which I do. And no you don't have to take the rock sliders off to install them, they use existing bolt pattern of of the rock sliders.

Yes. Only fit with the Tuffant sliders.

A very cool package. I like how they've designed them to mesh together so seamlessly. One great reason to get the Tuffant sliders. One of the PNW crew should be rocking a set of the latter soon. I look forward to seeing them in action.

As others have said, they only fit with the TuffAnt sliders.
One tiny thing I don't like with them is the cut out around the front transfer case (more than likely I have the wrong part!), it's about the same as the original one. It can still get scraped, I would have welded a extra cover on that.

Totally agree we need more CO outings posted on here!

Looking at more install photos from another installation on FB
http://www.facebook.com/groups/31397...23371119358737

Looks like most of the hardware for fitment is to the body's captured nuts/ pre-existing metal brackets. The ones to the sliders might work if the vertical height of the slider plate is the same as Proud Rhino/LK8. Some holes could be made in the sliders to allow fitment.

Probably not feasible, drilling out so much steel and hoping things are the right height before before buying but where there's a will etc.

There are some holes in the Voyager sliders that I used for plastic clips to help position the under-felt. These could work for bolts M8 at a guess.

After spending a lot of time on my back under the Defender, the OEM plate is actually pretty darn beefy. Obviously not the same acreage as these but not too shabby.

I suspect the precision and tolerances of the Tuffant's wouldn't allow a bodge-job install to a different slider but jealousy is a helluva drug.

These look superb.

I think it would be difficult to fit the under armor without the tuffant rock sliders. The entire inside edges where the under armor bolts to the rock sliders re-uses all the existing bolts. Each of those bolt holes for the rock sliders has a plastic spacer that the bolts go through to the capture nuts on the bottom of the vehicle. I suppose, like Gavin suggests, you could drill some new holes, thought it would probably be easier drilling the under armor to match the holes on whatever rock sliders you have.

I was actually surprised at how beefy the OEM plats were. And around the transmission they were two layers thick. To me the bigger benefit of the tuffant under armor is the coverage of the gas tanks. Still new to the off roading things I make plenty of mistakes and this gives me some piece of mind.

Also for those that may have the expedition one front bumper. The under armor has no problem integrating with the front bash plate that comes with the bumper.
